Terrance Stanley Fox, aka terry Fox born in July 28 1958 and
deceased June 28 1981. Known as a Canadian athlete with one leg amputated, he started
a cross-Canada run. Running a marathon every single day to raise money and
awareness for cancer research, The run terry did became known as the "marathon of hope", started in 1980 it was a cross-country run. Terry fox hoped to at least raise a single dollar for every Canadian citizen at that time (24 million people). eventually, just outside of thunder bay to everyone's surprise he asked to be taken to the hospital, his cancer forced him to stop the cross Canada run because it had spread to his lungs, leading to his tragic death only months later.
His efforts became known worldwide and countries all across the world with millions of people participating in one of the biggest one-day cancer fundraiser ever all started by a single man, terry fox who ran non-stop for 143 days and 5373 kilometers.
