assignment 16: Whats a story board

What is a story board?

A story board is a movie or play idea/script that is drawn out in the form of a comic or animation. The story board images should include all the characters, their expressions and emotions the board should also include the script, the time lapse and the general setting of the story.

The story board can also include the actions of the camera, such as fade in/out of scenes and other camera effects like that. giving the proofreader more of an idea of what emotion the writer wants the reader to feel.

                                                                  (general lay-out)

Story boards can be extremely accurate and descriptive with not very detailed drawings,

Jane Animation Project Hunting Sequence Storyboard

they can be scribbles with no description at all

Or they can be extremely detailed drawing with very little description.

as long as the general story, setting and atmosphere of the story can be

seen by the reader

Reasons for the storyboard

Making the story board allows you to picture and visualize the story, scene by scene. it allows you too add your story, take parts out you don't like and maybe change things like the camera angle or expression or emotion of the characters.

The story board also lays out your ideas in a easily changeable lay-out for people to give constructive criticism. people may not agree with or want to change the script, emotion, the setting or any variable making the sketch/story up before its too late.

Ex: if the story portrays a robot a robot that beats people up, in the storyboard the robot looks mad. Some one might say that the robot shouldn't show emotion. changing the story all together, yet making the story more probable and hence likable. (in my opinion believable stories are better ones)

assignment 13: Lest we forget

PART: A
Remembrance day is a very important day, possibly one of the most important celebrations we hold as a culture. unlike most holidays we are honoring people who fought for our freedom and gave their own lives rather then celebrating over a mythological person or superstitious legend. remembrance day is just about remembering, realizing and acknowledge that people who had families, friends and happy lives gave that up so we could have the same thing. would you give up everything you have for the chance that someone else might get it back one day? not many would. remembrance day also goes by other names such as armistice day and poppy day, on November 11th and 11th hour (11,11,11) the first world war finally ended and we have taken the time out of our day, on that day and time for each year to remember the soldiers who fought and gave their live for Canada to be free.

Assinment 11: Halloween "what does it MEEN"

Also known as Hallowe'en, Allhallowe'en, All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Eve. The story of Halloween has many different versions. according to Wikipedia, many scholars have decided that what we know as Halloween started as a christian feast, influenced by catholic festival and other cultures. But according to Wikipedia Other scholars believe that Halloween is only from christian roots, that Halloween is the evening before the christian holy day of all All Hallows' day. meaning they celebrate the day/evening before all the souls that haven't made it to heaven yet complete their trip to heaven. hence the, "walking dead" and "ghost" theme is so popular because it is the day before the dead rise traditionally according to the scholars that Wikipedia got their information from.

Whats Happening At Acss

Aaron Nelson-Moody

Aka "Splash" Visited ACSS high-school to demonstrate art and crafting to some students in our carpentry class. Aaron was also asked to demonstrate his skill and talk a little about himself and aboriginal history. He started his interest as a young boy when his grandfather and other family would carve, and teach him too carve. he has spent 12 years at schools all across Canada and some parts of Scotland and japan teaching others and telling his stories and the stories of his ancestors.

the tools
Aaron told us a little about the tools he used, he said he used three basic tools.
The straight blade, the Hook blade, and Bent blade

(image)

If he were to carve for example a totem pole, he would use the same tools just bigger.
Depending on where you live depends on the tools you use and how you use them. Aaron said he went to New York to learn their style of cutting and the man their learn from Aaron

assignment 7. The Rule Of Thirds.

The rule of thirds- Means that an image can be
imagined as being separated into 9 different parts,     3X3.                                                                           <-- Example

Points of Power- Exact spot where lines  intersect in the rule of “rule of thirds”
    Example:--->

                                                                 Golden rule:
The single spot the image is trying to make the vibrant or noticeable,
where the lines intersect or meet is usually where the photographer is trying to draw the eye.
Example: the giraffes eye and/or face, the building, and the center of the flower below.
.
Golden triangle. The picture below
divided into 3 triangles.

Golden ratio: The four horizontal and vertical lines
making a perfect ratio as seen in the picture above.

Golden spiral: It is different because the line doesn't cross or intersect,
attention is drawn towards the end of the line (Center of the Flower)

Vertical and Horizontal Lines-Horizontal and lines going across like the horizon
Vertical lines- Go up and down
Oblique Lines-Lines that aren't parallel or perpendicular

Curved Lines- Lines that bend

assignment 6. ACSS Terry Fox Run

The Terry fox run at ACSS Secondary school started with a big assembly including local schools.

At the assembly we watched an inspiring video of Terry Fox, his struggle and fight with cancer and how during this struggle he ran a marathon every day for 143 days with one leg.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First the elementary kids go to line up and get ready.

Then the
 elementary
students are off!
captain america
in the lead.

Then the not so enthusiastic                                                        secondary students get ready.
Then the secondary students start! these are the few who actually ran in the beginning.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Terry Fox run at ACSS school was a fun experience for all the kids and also has a big meaning behind it teaching the kids about Terry's fight and getting them to support it. Donations were collected and Terry's "Marathon of Hope" lives another year.
